FULL DAY PRE-SCHOOL “NITTY GRITTY “

Leaving your child at pre-school for the day can sometimes be more stressful for the parents than the child! To help make the transitions easier for all involved, we’ve put together a smattering of helpful hints.

On those first few days:
Separation anxiety maybe immediate or it may be delayed. Very often a child will be so engrossed in the new surroundings that there will be no difficulty leaving at all. In short, expect the unexpected.

If your child cries when you leave, reassure him/her of your love ; tell when you’ll be back; give that extra hug and kiss, THEN GO. Usually the tears stop shortly after the parent leaves.

To ease your mind, call any time during the day.

What to bring:
Have an extra change of clothes - right down to socks to leave at school.

Show and Tell days will be announced by your child’s teacher. Items or toys that are the color of the month, letter of the week, or in keeping with the themes of the month may be brought in that day.

Put your child’s name on everything. Clothing can easily be confused.

A “Brown Bag” lunch that follows a nutritional plan. Creative Kids will provide juice or milk.

Parent Information and communication:
News letters are distributed the first week of each month. Please read it to keep up to events.
Check your child’s folder each day for things to take home.
There is a bulletin board specifically for parents in your child’s room relating to current themes and upcoming events.
Be sure to check for any field trip permission sign-ups posted in each room which will give any pertinent information about school outings.

Miscellaneous Info:

Teachers need to know if anything out of the ordinary has happened at home which might affect your child’s day. A poor night’s sleep, for example, can make a big difference in your child’s behavior.

Feel free to talk to the teachers at drop off and pick up times. While these times may be hectic for discussing important concerns, they are a good time for an informal chat. Appointments can be scheduled at your convenience.

Children who are newly enrolled in a group situation are readily susceptible to colds. Please read and adhere to Creative Kids illness policy in the handbook.

Little toys brought from home have a curious way of getting lost or misplaced, causing broken hearts for their owners. To avoid undue anguish, we suggest leaving precious possessions at home, except for specified Show & Tell time. Creative Kids and their teachers are not responsible for items brought from home.
